Emergency Services

Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut provides a comprehensive range of high-quality emergency medical services from pre-hospital paramedic services through a state-of-the-art Emergency Department featuring a Level Two Trauma Center to a nationally recognized Critical Care Unit.

One of the Hospital’s signature services, our emergency medicine program features highly trained physicians who offer expert care backed by advanced technology.

Our paramedic service provides advanced, pre-hospital care by state-licensed paramedics and certified IV technicians in response to 9-1-1 calls requiring medical assistance for the City of Norwalk and other local towns. In close contact with physicians and nurses in the Hospital, our paramedics in essence bring the Emergency Department to the patient in the “field,” providing advanced monitoring and medical care and saving valuable minutes.

Our state-of-the-art Emergency Department features modern life-saving technology and is staffed by board-certified physicians and experienced nurses with advanced skills. This high-level of emergency medicine is enhanced by the compassionate care Norwalk Hospital is widely noted for providing to patients and families.

For the most critically ill and injured patients, Norwalk Hospital offers a Level Two Trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons. This Center is staffed around-the-clock by trauma specialists, including trauma surgeons and emergency medicine physicians.

Emergent, highly specialized oxygen therapy is available for patients suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, diver’s “bends” and other conditions through the Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center
