The Center offers comprehensive services, from screening and rapid diagnosis to referrals, support, and counseling, all delivered in a compassionate manner.
During this difficult time, it's easy to be confused by the complexity of the healthcare system. To help, our Breast Health Navigator, a specially trained nurse will ensure that you receive everything you need. No roadblocks. No delays. Early in the process, she'll provide information, emotional support and sensible answers to your many questions. Available by phone, e-mail or appointment she is expert at:
- Guiding you through the complex healthcare system
- Coordinating all of your follow-up needs
- Assisting you with appropriate social services
- Arranging your diagnostic services
- Helping you and your family locate resources and support
- Advocating for financial aid to help patients without insurance
Our medical director is a nationally recognized breast cancer expert. Our volunteers, all of whom have survived breast cancer, are eager to help you in any way they can. Valuable one-to-one sessions, offer timely education concerning your personal medical needs.
Early detection is critical in the fight against breast cancer - the survival rate for women detected with early stage breast cancer at 5 years is an astounding 96%.
The goal of the Smilow Family Breast Health Center is to offer education and support for women as they cope with abnormal breast screening findings – whether or not they prove to be malignant or benign.
This program addresses breast care in a seamless manner, beginning with community education and screening. Focusing on rapid diagnosis, the program provides on-going support through-out the process of referral and scheduling to all needed services and physicians. Our Breast Health Specialist – a nurse clinician is dedicated to ensure that you receive the support and knowledge to successfully navigate today's healthcare system.
