Kids’ Healthy Weight Program
At Norwalk Hospital’s Nutrition Center, we invite parents and children to learn together in a group program, Kids’ Healthy Weight. Three classes, plus one individualized 15-minute follow-up visit, will cover topics such as:
- How to achieve a healthy weight for your child
- Healthy food shopping, menu planning and label reading
- How to build physical activity into your child’s day
A Spanish translator is available.
Classes meet the last three Tuesday of each month, from 6 – 7 pm, in the Nutrition Center at Norwalk Hospital.
Adult Healthy Weight Program
We also offer an adult healthy weight program, teaching the fundamentals of healthy eating and exercise in a small group setting. This program includes two classes with an individualized follow-up visit. These classes will cover topics such as:
- Understanding portion sizes & food groups
- Reading food labels
- Menu planning and shopping on a budget
Transformations Weight Loss Program
If you want to lose weight, we can help! Our 8-week program meets weekly for one hour and gives you the personalized attention you need to make sustainable changes and improve your health. Class size is limited to 12. We create a supportive atmosphere to help you reach your weight goals.
Topics and techniques we cover include:
- Behavior modification techniques
- Cooking techniques
- Dining out
As a participant, you will receive the tools you need to develop a meal plan tailored to your personal medical history, food preferences and lifestyle. You will be closely monitored through weekly food diaries and weigh-ins.
