COVID-19 update: Norwalk Hospital visitation changes effective 10/18/2020

Norwalk Hospital
COVID-19

NORWALK, Connecticut, October 18, 2020 — There has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in the Greater Norwalk communities. Norwalk Hospital is limiting visitation out of an abundance of caution and to safeguard our patients and staff.

Effective October 18, 2020, no visitors are permitted for any patients at Norwalk Hospital unless extenuating circumstances apply. Please review the full visitation policy at: www.wchn.org/novel-coronavirus-covid19-update/visitation-policy

According to the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s new color-coded alert system, Norwalk is currently in the “yellow” Town Level Alert, with nine confirmed cases per 100,000 residents and a 2.7% test positivity rate. Having 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents is the criteria for the highest “red alert” under the new system.

“Together, we can reduce the chances of spreading COVID-19 throughout our communities. Please continue to wear a mask in public, limit group gatherings with non-household members, wash your hands frequently throughout the day, and stay home if you’re not feeling well,” said Peter R. Cordeau, president, Norwalk Hospital.

Please also get tested if you think you have symptoms of COVID-19. For more information about COVID-19 testing at Nuvance Health’s primary care practices and outpatient locations, please visit: www.wchn.org/novel-coronavirus-covid19-update/covid19-testing
