Norwalk Hospital Celebrates 125 Years Caring for Our Community

While the health care industry continues to transform in response to changes and opportunities brought about by health care reform – Norwalk Hospital remains guided by its rich history, mission, vision and values.

Throughout 2018, Norwalk Hospital will celebrate its 125th anniversary caring for our community. Our early beginnings date back to July 20, 1893 when Norwalk Hospital opened temporary quarters at 24 Leonard Street. As patients arrived from the villages of Westport, Weston, Wilton, Darien and New Canaan, the community forged ahead with more construction. Over time, pavilions and clinical programs were added to keep pace with growing community needs for emergency care, medical care, surgery and women’s and children’s services.

Clearly, the world outside our doors has changed an extraordinary amount since 1893. Yet inside Norwalk Hospital, our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care close to home remains as constant and vibrant as ever.

Join us as we celebrate our past and prepare for our continuous growth and bright future.
