Norwalk Hospital's 125th Anniversary

Dear Friends,

Mike Daglio

Happy Anniversary Norwalk Hospital!

In 1888, a woman’s compassion at the scene of a tragic train accident triggered concerned leaders to take action to help provide care for those in need. Thanks to the steadfast support of neighbors who understood what an outstanding hospital means to the well-being of a community, Norwalk Hospital became a reality in 1893. In the first year, 31 patients were cared for. Today, that number exceeds 315,000!

For 125 years, Norwalk Hospital has been at the forefront of providing quality, compassionate care to the residents of Fairfield County. While much has changed over the years, a common theme resonates – an unwavering commitment to provide exceptional patient care to every person in our community– close to home.

Many thanks to all who had the vision and foresight to help us evolve from our humble beginnings in 1893 to our revered status as the beloved “hospital on the hill.” While our 125th anniversary is indeed a great source of pride, it’s just the beginning of a new chapter in caring for our community. As a proud member of Western Connecticut Health Network, we are well-poised for the future. We are committed to delivering personalized care without compromise and able to offer world class care – close to home. New facilities, program offerings and strategic partnerships will help us continually expand our expertise and achieve our vision to advance the health and well-being of the communities we so proudly serve – today and tomorrow.

Stay tuned for special 125th anniversary celebrations throughout the year.
