Research has shown that exercising on a regular basis has major health benefits for cancer patients by helping to combat depression, stress, treatment side effects, and cancer-related fatigue.

Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center and Riverbrook Regional YMCA formed an innovative partnership to support the well-being of cancer patients throughout their diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.  Specialized trainers, with a cancer-specific exercise certification, work with cancer patients to design tailored exercise plans based on a patient’s health assessment, medical history, medication regimen, surgeries, and personal limitations.   Patients can exercise in a group setting with other cancer patients to share their experiences and find support.
